Hey all, just a little note of update.

1. The CBC did geo-block this program. I was in Cambridge,UK when they, where I submitted this from.

2. They also dropped all of the entries from outside Canada off of their website map at some point - actually they made the map not able to navigate beyond Canada - which was pretty much a massive joke and contradiction from a country and government funded broadcaster that goes on at lengths about how every Canadian is from somewhere else and how we are not a melting pot like the US. Interesting...

3. The final CBC documentary was made up of 20% of UGC content. 20%! Is that joke! CBC produces an unoriginal idea (this was a bite off Ridely Scott's "One Day on Earth" which was a fully UGC produced documentary), they go on about how this is a UGC documentary by Canadians about Canadians and then they use UGC to fill 20% of their documentary. Shame my friends. Shame. They were obviously concerned that Canadians would ruin their reputation for producing high budgeted, perfectly shot, over produced, soulless programming. What a joke. Hey CBC, excellent example of leading the way there with cutting edge interactive programming that really celebrates the grass roots reality that social media is actually all about. Hmmm well I take solace in the fact that with a budget of hundreds of thousands of dollars later (all about productions values right), they still produced a dud.

Hi Greg - thanks! Happy it resonated with you. Did you see the latest Pew Centre report: "Social networking sites and our lives" http://t.co/jSG2lLb I'm still digesting all it says, but one of the results they surfaced is that "Liking" is the number one Facebook activity. Whatever the results mean research wise I'm fundamentally awed that we've been able to turn the non act of "liking" or "to like" into an activity. Amazing times, amazing possibilities but we still need to steer this ship.

Thank you Deiren, for a beautiful song about a wonder-filled man. It brought me back to some great young men who were blessed to have Roy as their Grampa. You have a gift of putting words to feelings that not all of us are able to share...hope all is well and I'm sure Roy and Annie are together and smiling.

Thanks Laura...ya, I'm looking forward to putting this together. I'm sure the $ figure that will rack up will be impressive - let alone shedding some light on the ridiculous prevalence of this word.

Thanks Massismo - ya I can understand your p.o.v...It's been wild to see Grandparents reactions though - even tech savvy one's - when we put Gaku in front of them. Obviously even more so with the Grandparents who are pre-booomer ie. aged 70 and up. We were constantly getting, "so where can I get one and how much?" Would love to have been able to say "Here, and it's only $$ :-)"

Nice idea and very nice video Deiren: I can see the simplicity of operation o Gaku although as a computer user for 3 decades I am obviously biased in my opinion and whether I would buy it.
